Bobbie Powell graduated in 2005 from KU with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, majoring in Painting. Since graduating she has sold work at the “Holiday Art Fair” (Lawrence Arts Center) and “Art in the Park” in Anthony, KS. She has shown work at the new and old Lawrence Public Library, The Merc (Lawrence, KS), The Arboretum (Overland Park, KS), The Mulvane Museum of Art (Topeka, KS), and Powell Gardens (Kingsville, MO). Bobbie has shown art in many of the Final Friday art celebrations in Lawrence since 2009 and is still actively showing with groups at varying locations around Lawrence. Bobbie has also shown in one Kansas City art show during their First Friday events. A mural was painted as a donation of time for the nursing and elder care home in Anthony, KS.
Bobbie’s latest works include painting donated to a children’s book project titled, “The Tree Who Walked Through Time”. The proceeds from that project go to the Mulvane Museum of Art’s Children’s Art Lab in Topeka, KS, a place for children to explore art using a plethora of mediums, all materials being provided to the kids for free. Bobbie is also working on her first illustration project with author, Maureen Carroll, entitled, “Spider’s Dance”. Bobbie’s true passion is found in caring for her two children, Sophia and Amos. She delights in reading Spider’s Dance to them and has even included their likenesses in the book.
